New commission by Conway and Young

We are excited to announce a new commission by Bristol-based artists Conway and Young, which will be launched in early 2025 as part of the Feed project.

Conway and Young take a collaborative approach to their projects, which are motivated by art and design’s critical, social, civic and political potential. Their new artwork, Milk Report, is a short film that explores the politics and economics of care through the lens of breastfeeding. It is part of a series of artworks, which include a publication documenting the hours and minutes Young spent breastfeeding during the first six-months after giving birth (2019) and a performance commissioned by the Holden Gallery (2021).

Milk Report confronts the complexities of care under late capitalism: challenging ideas of ‘the natural’ and ‘the artificial’, exploring the things that are difficult, performed and improvised in caregiving and, above all, exposing the inherent messiness of feeding bodies and our attitudes towards them.

Initial screening dates will be announced in the next few months. However, if you are interested in showing the work at your venue, please contact us.

The Milk Report film is funded by Arts Council England and University of Central Lancashire.
