Milk & Blankets
We are delighted to announce a new project in partnership with Birmingham City Council’s Public Health Division, taking place in community hubs across the city.
Led by artists Ania Bas, Amelia Hawk and Joanne Masding, Milk and Blankets is a free, hands-on art project that explores the act of feeding babies and children, the emotions, techniques, preconceptions and struggles associated with it and the unsolicited advice that can be received. Through engaging, fun and relaxing art making sessions we will develop ideas, write stories and make objects that will come to life during a family picnic celebration at Midland Arts Centre on 10th June 2025, curated by Kaye Winwood.
Art making sessions will run during March and April 2025, in partnership with The Breastfeeding Network, Mamahood Space, Bearwood Community Hub, National Childcare Trust and Maternity Engagement Action in the following venues: Stryx, Fox Hollies Children’s Centre, Kitts Green Children’s Centre, Wychall Children’s Centre, Duke Street Church in Sutton Coldfield, Maternity Engagement Action in Urban Works, Lakeside Children’s Centre and Bear Bookshop in Bearwood.
